Celebrating a successful first digital EMEA Canalys Forum and partner award winners

Shanghai (China), Bengaluru (India), Singapore, Reading (UK) and Portland (US) – Friday, 16 October 2020

Canalys is proud to conclude a fantastic fortnight of the first fully digital EMEA Canalys Forum. The event was powered by Canapii, an event management platform developed using more than a decade of Canalys’ world-leading in-house digital and events expertise. The forum was exceptional in bringing together nearly 2,000 delegates representing the most important channel partners and vendors in the EMEA region. The CEOs from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lenovo, Trend Micro and VMware were joined by the CMO from Nutanix and regional president from Dell Technologies in premiering keynotes exclusively for the Canalys Forum audience.

There were over 75 sessions, including interviews with the CEOs of channel partners across the region, and global channel and regional leaders from vendor sponsors. There was also a “Rising Star” supporters live talk, Canalys keynotes and market updates. Attendees were able to access content on-demand throughout the two weeks of the event, and schedule meetings via the Canapii platform. Over 2,500 meetings took place via the platform, using the integrated networking, planning and video tools.

"We’re proud to have been able to bring together the EMEA channels community in a year that has been extraordinarily challenging for events,” said Gemma Edwards, Senior Director, Events. “Our team’s capabilities meant we were able to digitally transform ourselves, which, of course, has been the theme of the year for the IT industry. We are extremely pleased to have our distributor sponsors supporting the event, hand in hand with IT companies that lead the way in their commitment to channel partners in the region. Thanks to all who have come together to meet and make plans for future success.”

Channel Partner of the Year Awards

During the event, a panel of senior Canalys channel analysts reviewed the nominations for the Candefero Channel Partner of the Year Awards. These highlight outstanding performance in specific areas: Growth, Diversity and Inclusion, and an overall Channel Partner of the Year award. Their research considered how each partner had made sustainable investments for the future, its performance, its demonstrated expertise and its customers’ resulting business value.

Canalys Chief Analyst Alastair Edwards said, “This year, the Channel Partner of the Year Awards recognized what an unprecedented year this has been. The technology industry has been very fortunate because it has experienced such high demand for its products and services. Managing through the uncertainty with suppliers and customers while addressing their own shifts to remote working and skills shortages, keeping a close eye on company values and planning for next year has been extraordinarily demanding for everyone. We want to recognize the tremendous role the channel has played in 2020 in helping to deliver on demand.”

The overall Candefero Partner of the Year award was given to SVA, recognizing the company’s excellence in delivering cloud and infrastructure management, workplace services, cybersecurity and business continuity for customers across DACH. The company experienced double-digit revenue and profit growth last year and is on track to perform better this year. It is customer- rather than marketing-led and focuses on high-quality solutions.

Diversity and Inclusion Partner of the Year was awarded to Computacenter. It is the second year for this new awards category. Computacenter’s submission demonstrated its commitment to driving diversity and inclusion across not only its employees but also its suppliers, while at the same time achieving strong revenue and profit performance. As part of its emphasis on board-driven diversity and inclusion values, it is also taking action to reduce its environmental impact.

Growth Partner of the Year was awarded to Bechtle. After growing by an impressive 24% in 2019, the German company has achieved strong revenue and profit growth in 2020, despite COVID-19 related economic pressures. It has benefited from the IT “race to remote” and its strong presence in the public sector.

The APAC Canalys Forum will take place between 16 and 27 November, while the LATAM Canalys Forum will run from 30 November to 11 December 2020.
