Canalys: New Indian office and research growth
Shanghai, Bengaluru (India), Singapore, Reading (UK) and Portland (US) – Monday, 1 July 2019
Canalys is proud to announce the establishment of a permanent presence in India this week. Our new office is in Bengaluru, one of India’s many growing technology hubs, with established links to the capital and other major cities.
Canalys Research Director Rushabh Doshi, who is from Bengaluru, will head up the new operation after a decade based in Singapore. “Canalys has expanded its research and customer base in India over many years. We have an established group of valued analysis service clients, as well as important friends in the channel. We are also proud that so many people from distributors and partners in India attend our APAC Canalys Channels Forums. Likewise, we have built a strong media presence by working with respected journalists covering the growing technology industry. As our relationships grow it is vital that Canalys’ capabilities also develop to help us exceed expectations in all of our engagements.”
The establishment of the new office will serve as a research and operational center, like Canalys’ other offices in China, the UK and the US. Singapore remains the company’s headquarters. Having a presence in another of the world’s fastest-growing economies supports Canalys as a leading global analyst firm. It will also help to bring new insights and innovations to the company from the new people employed there, through Canalys’ emphasis on its globally collaborative culture.
“Canalys continues to invest in building its global presence – this is core to our strategy for growth,” said Canalys President and CEO Steve Brazier. “This exciting move will boost research for our services and custom project work in mobility, channels, enterprise and emerging technology. Our Canalys Channels Forums are the largest independent channels events in APAC, EMEA and LATAM, and this move will help ensure we continue to reflect the global and local conditions in delivering our analysis to our audiences. The Canalys team looks forward to welcoming new members to the Indian office, supporting our customers and growing our businesses together.”
The latest research from Canalys shows that the total IT addressable market in India was worth US$44.4 billion in 2018, up 7.0% last year, making it the eighth largest market worldwide. Canalys forecasts India’s smartphone and PC markets are all set for growth this year and next, and new technologies, such as smart speakers, will offer strong opportunities over the next three years.
